In Tokyo, you either pay 100 yen and get the cheap plastic deal of chemical-flavored mints, or you pay 500 yen and get the designer tin containing exactly 20 mints, each with it’s own pattern designed and laser etched on top of each mojito flavor-infused mint. High-end products run rampant here and I’m always wondering what’s next. How about packing a designer carrying case for aspirin tablets. My coworker bought a pack to show off the other day, I asked her to pick one up for me when she saw them again. I got the orange tin with the words “ASPIRIN” embossed on top. It neatly holds ten aspirin tablets and comes with a little chain attached, the box even had a tag saying, “ENJOY THE COLOR!”. I wonder if that tagline is supposed to imply something related to the effects of the product. This thing makes over-the-counter drugs look like candy.
