Room with a view
We’re just about settled into our new place in Shirokane-Takanawa now. To describe our new location, it’s between Hiroo, Shirokane-Takanawa and Azabu Juban. It’s a nice place, smaller than our last one, but comfortable and very quiet. I love the quiet. There are some yippy dogs down the street, but they don’t bother me much. The view is great, especially at night when Roppongi Hills and the Tokyo Tower are all lit up. There’s not much in our immediate neighborhood, but a short walk towards Shirokane station and there’s tons of great spots. We have this awesome bakery called “Maison Kaiser” which is a branch of some famous French patisserie. They have giant almond croissants and these wonderful fruit tarts and brownies. We have a nice Indian restaurant as well and some little Japanese noodle shops. The best part is our supermarket. Right at our station is a giant, fancy Queen Isetan supermarket. Their vegetables are a little expensive, but they sell all kinds of nice prepared foods like fresh sushi and big salads. I love their selection of jellies. I usually hate jellies, but they have these chilled ones that come in flavors like Earl Grey Tea with bits of apple inside and dark cherrie with bits of peaches. Really nice!
Besides the new apartment, nothing much else is new. Waki and I are planning a vacation to Hong Kong for September. We’re going to shop for our wedding outfits while eating lots of duck and drinking lots of Tsing Tao. I’m looking forward to taking a break enjoying some free time there. I hope the weather is nice, it’s boiling hot and humid in Tokyo right now…
