Lovenight Spot
On our way back from an amazing grilled seafood dinner in Akabane, we came across this place. The red letters say, “Lovenight SPOT” and below it advertises that you can have your own personal bottle of brandy or whisky. Then below that it assures you that there will be no secret charges hiding in your bill. Classy. This is what is known in Japan as a “Snack Bar”(Or spoken as “Snacku”), which is a tiny bar run by an old lady who will have a conversation with you about anything. In return for the conversation, you’re job is to get drunk, forget your responsibilities, and empty your wallet on a tiny bowl of peanuts and some cheap beer. I’ve heard stories of businessmen wandering into these places at night, then wandering out at 3AM $400-$500 short. Ouch. I love the exotic ones like this with the odd names though.
