Korg nanokey
It was thanks to this video that I wound up ordering one of these off amazon.co.jp.
The Korg nanokey is a plasticky little keyboard, just an inch short of the width of a Macbook Pro, that’s USB powered and quite portable, not to mention cheap. I opted for the black model so it would match my laptop. Plugging it in illuminates the little Korg logo with white LEDs, nice touch. The keys themselves don’t feel much like piano keys, but they are very sensitive, and can tell the difference between a very light tap and a very hard tap. I’ve been looking for a non-traditional instrument to play with and interface with Garageband and this fit the bill nicely. A full size keyboard would never fit in my little Japanese apartment without a fair amount of rearranging.
