Shinfuji Pocke Torch
Right on the package, “Soto Pocke Torch,” “Wind proof burner refined by Shinfuji Japan.” This little baby is set to resolve my crème brûlée kitchen woes. Small enough to fit inconspicuously in any kitchen drawer, this little micro torch can be had for about ¥1,200. It uses regular plastic lighters which you can find just about anywhere for refills, points lost for environmental friendliness, but scores points for convenience. Very easy to use, just squeeze and snap off the top to insert the lighter, snap the top back on and you’re ready to burn! I imagine this is good for preparing desert/dinner for two, but there’s no way this is going to serve a big party(where a full size torch would earn you more street cred than this anyway).
