Belkin Rockstar
No, I didn’t get this to share my iPod with five people. Who the heck is actually going to do that? I needed a cheap and good solution to connect my DS, Kaossilator and iPod Touch to my MBP all at the same time. The Belkin Rockstar fit the bill nicely. It does a great job connecting anything with a mini-plug to my Macbook Pro, but there is a bit of volume loss since there is no built in amp. I think it’s roughly 10-15% volume loss with three devices plugged in, which isn’t bad considering the type of music I like to make doesn’t require such high fidelity, and you can increase the juice artificially in Garageband/Logic Pro. The only other weak spot I’d say is the metal, which is silver and not gold. Besides that, it’s a very well made device and does just what I wanted it to do. It also came with an extra male-to-male mini-plug cable which was a nice bonus.
