About
I’m an art director who moved to Tokyo, Japan in 2003. I worked for several ad agencies as a graphic designer in the U.S. before moving to Tokyo where I subsequently opened two creative agencies(with other creatives, not single-handedly), one which I currently run with my talented partner Vitaly. I live in a place called Hiroo which is a sort of magnet town for gaijin. My current office is in Shibuya, just across from Tokyu Hands.
I come from a creative background. My father is a designer, my mother an art teacher, and my sister some kind of crazed illustrator genius. I’m married to my wonderful wife Waki who I married in July 2007. In the U.S., my name is Jon Siegel, in Japan I adopted my wife’s last name, which makes me Jon Yoneoka in Japan.
I’ve been mentioned a few times in print. Once for a trip I made with my wife and her sister to Bangladesh. Another time for my business and blog in Tokyo. Of note as well, a brief appearance on Boingboing.
